clamp() limits a number to a range.

It looks like this:

clamp(val, min, max)

The number, val, will be locked between, and including, the min value and the max value.

clamp(5,2,4) will limit the value, 5, to a range between 2 and 4. Since 5 is larger than the maximum value, the code returns 4.

clamp(1,2,4) will limit the value, 1, to a range between 2 and 4. Since 1 is lower than the minimum value, the code returns 2.

clamp(3,2,4)will return 3, since 3 is between the numbers 2 and 4.
